Prepare your students for a day full of waka learning at school. Students from around the greater Wellington region will have the chance to meet and hear from waka voyagers and explore the galaxy in a S.M.A.R.T. Trust Star Dome. SchoolFest will bring this special waka experience directly to your school.
Students will:
- meet two waka voyagers in a 45-minute presentation
about their experiences sailing across the Pacific, followed by a 15-minute Q&A
- experience the S.M.A.R.T. Trust Star
Dome and learn how voyagers navigate by the stars in a 30-minute celestial
navigation workshop
- meet the Sustainable Coastlines conservation team in a workshop on how to be kinder to our environment and keep our coastlines and oceans clean.
